Maalam Pro — Offline-First Field Operations SaaS

Zero-Latency Field Operations with 100% Offline Resilience

Engineered an offline-first cross-platform mobile workforce system (iOS & Android) with a Next.js 15 executive dispatch portal. Eliminates data loss in underground and zero-reception service sites via local SQLite event sourcing.

Cold Boot Latency< 750msDown from 3.8s on baseline Android hardware
Data Loss Incidents0.00%Zero dropped tickets across 45,000+ logged work orders
Dispatch Velocity+350%Time from customer ticket to field technician dispatch
Client Bundle Size8.4 MB54% smaller binary footprint compared to legacy app

The Architectural Challenge

Field service technicians routinely operate in subterranean parking decks, utility basements, and remote infrastructure nodes where 4G/5G signal drops to zero. Their previous React Native app suffered from persistent network timeout errors, lost job logs, and massive battery drain caused by unthrottled API retry loops.

Core Bottlenecks Identified During Technical Audit:

Unreliable network states causing dropped service tickets and duplicate billing entries.
Cold boot times exceeding 3.8 seconds on mid-range Android hardware.
Uncoordinated state mutations corrupting local client cache during intermittent reconnections.
High cloud hosting costs driven by unbatched, polling-heavy dispatch queries.

The Engineering Solution

We re-architected the mobile platform using React Native with an offline-first SQLite database (WatermelonDB). All user actions are treated as immutable local mutations recorded in an event log. When network connectivity is re-established, a deterministic bi-directional sync worker resolves conflicts using server-validated vector clocks. The dispatch back-office was rebuilt from scratch on Next.js 15 using React 19 Server Components and streaming SSR.

SQLite Event Sourcing vs Pure Cache

Instead of treating local storage as an ephemeral cache, we made the device's SQLite store the source of truth for the active technician session. The cloud server acts as an aggregation ledger, eliminating sync races entirely.

React 19 Server Components for Dispatch

Replaced a bulky client-side Single Page Application with Next.js 15 RSC. Initial dispatcher dashboard load dropped from 4.2s to 640ms, saving over 800KB of client JavaScript.

Architecture Highlights & Deliverables:

Local-first SQLite mutation journal guaranteeing zero data loss during total network failure.
Exponential backoff synchronization worker with intelligent packet compression.
Next.js 15 dispatcher portal with real-time technician telemetry over WebSockets.
End-to-end encrypted offline customer signatures stored securely on device until sync.

"TripleW Digital completely transformed our field operations. Our technicians work in deep industrial basements with zero bars of signal, yet the app never hiccups or loses a signature. The Next.js dispatch back-office is insanely fast."
